3. Peek a boo Sliding Card
This card slides and a new image will appear. I am still finalizing the details of this card to make it look nicer. I think I still switch the images around so the saying "You're a friend that makes good times great" will slide out :). Here is a rough draft for now.

Prayer Request

I just received the email informing me that Andy is back in the ICU this morning. Please pray for healing and peace for him. Peace for his wife and family. I have already bought my airline tickets to visit him again in July. Due to my selfish reasons, I refused to say bye in May when I saw him in Houston. I really want the chance to see him again. Please pray that he will get better. I am pretty much lost for words.

Current Event

The biggest news at work today was when my coworkers started telling me that Michael Jackson passed away. I keep checking cnn to verify. Within the hour, the news was verified. I was very shocked. It seemed like it was only yesterday that I was listening to his song "You are Not Alone."

Also, Farrah Fawcett (Charlie's Angel) also passed away today. I really don't know much about Farrah since the first time I watched Charlie's was with Cameron Diaz. After reading articles about her, she was a huge icon. However, all the news about her is pushed aside. Everyone seems to focus on MJ's death... just seems a bit unfair. My prayers goes out to both of their family and friends.

On a lighter note...

I have been pretty tired lately. Maybe it is my old age. I guess I will spend the rest of tonight checking out the new Stampin'Up! Idea Book. This idea book is for sale starting July 1st for $9.95. Please email me if you like to pre-order one. I highly recommend this book because it is filled with so many new ideas. A magazine in the newstand is around $5 so for couple bucks more, you get a book. :) The idea book have 209 pages!!! It is pretty dangerous because the new stamp sets are sooooooo cute. Sorry, I am not allowed to post the images until July 1st.

I wanted to use the rest of my Washington Apple designer paper so I made a birthday card for my friend Andy. His birthday is this weekend. Happy Birthday Andy!!!

Hi Card

I saw this idea while watching you tube today so decided to make this card for my sister to brighten up her day. She's been really busy at work which makes it nearly impossible to get a hold of her.

I miss getting mail. Not junk mail or bills... but letters, cards, mail with a cool postage stamp on the envelope. When was the last time you hand wrote a card or letter? When was the last time you received one in the mail? It has been way too long for me. Hopefully with my card making classes, I can get more people to start sending snail mail! We need more personally touches. By the way, new The Simpsons stamps are available at your local post office. Collecting stamps is another hobby of mine :)

June 20, 2009 Class

I had a blast teaching yesterday. I am constantly amazed by the creativity that are exerted by the kids. After class Steph and I watched You've Got Mail while munching on Rubio's nachos. We both really like that movie since our college days so we thought yesterday was the night to reminisce. It is sort of scary that we both remember the way our modem sound when it was dialing...

TGIF

This week was very stressful. I guess partly is because of my poor time management. There are so many things I want to do; but, yet I never seem to find the time. I guess 24 hour days are simply not enough when 12 hours goes to work. However, through all of this, my friend Andy and Tiffany remind me constantly of how bless we are. How we should value every second we have. I received an email from Tiffany today around 3pm. Andy faced another battle today (in regards to his health). He won today's battle! :) It was such a relief to know that. But what broke my heart was when he said he was tired. Here I am, feeling that I burned out. My tiredness cannot even be compared to his scale. Please continue to pray for him and his family. Pray for his health, pray for some good rest, and pray for strength.

Have to get ready for the Black and White Appreciation now... I'll post pictures tomorrow?? after stamping class??

For those of you who are feeling stressed, sad, moody... I find this song very very uplifting. Hope this song will brighten your day and bring you peace.

Time Management

Good Evening!
This week is going by FAST! I still have so much to do before class on Saturday. Friday night at FECDB, we are having a Black and White appreciation party. That means I lose Friday to get my house in shape and prep for class.

Catherine was home the last weekend and we went to Ikea to pick up a new book shelf. This stamping hobby is very addictive and by the time I know it, I am out of storage space. This new book shelf is only $39 and it can hold A LOT of goodies. I will post a picture as soon as I am done arranging the shelf.

I knew this week I have a lot of things I want to accomplish: cleaning kitchen, cleaning downstairs, cleaning room, prep for Saturday's class, make goodies for appreciation night, bake for class (after my full time job in Irvine, and 1 hour commute) . During my break at work, I actually wrote myself a schedule, in one hour increments, to help me plan my days. The weird thing is I never seem to give myself enough time. Tonight, 11:00 - 12:00 was designated to cut the paper for class on Saturday. The cleaning took longer than expected. And when you clean, there are so many distractions. In order to clean out the closet, you find things that need to go into a drawer, and that drawer needs to be reorganized, and so on. So I was distracted when I came across my pom pom maker. I bought this couple years ago in Japan because at that time, I had to make pom pom animals. As of now, I still have not made one yet :X But I did take some time to make a pom pom tonight. Here is a picture of my pom pom kit. It took me a while to decipher the Japanese diagrams to get the contraption to work. It took 2 tries as you can see from the picture. After figuring it out, the kit is AMAZING!!! After Saturday, I will attempt to make a pom pom creature of some sort.
Needless to say, the pom pom took longer than I expected. I did not get a chance to cut out papers for class. Tomorrow.. tomorrow...

Cool Finds

Hello!

Love Story by Taylor Swift is currently on the top of my play list. I came across this wonderful video by Jon Schmidt where he transformed Love Story into a classical piece. It is called Love Story meets Viva la Vida. Somehow he made two different song styles blend together. I am so amazed by his talents. Check it out because I absolutely love it!!

June 14th Weekend

WE WON!!! GO LAKERS!!!!

Sorry, needed to make sure I share my excitement of Lakers winning the Championships with you.

This weekend was very busy. My sister, Catherine came back from Phoenix to visit and celebrate my Uncle Benny's bday. We basically ran errands together over the weekend (washed our cars, post office to pick up mail, Costco with grandma, dinner with family, Ikea, the usual). The time I enjoy the most with Cat is usually during our "breaks" (in between errands) where we sit in front of the tv, each with our laptops, surfing the web, watching Food Network, snacking, with Buttons in between us. We had about 3 hours over the entire weekend to chill in front of the tv. I feel blessed :)

After the dinner celebration, I got a chance to experiment on the Cupcake Gift Card Holder. My friend Jennifer U. emailed me this clip on You Tube by Tresa Black. After watching the video I knew I had to give it a try. I was working on this around midnight last night. The project took a good 2 hours to finish. I should have planned out my layers before starting the project... Next time, it will look better.

Giving ~ Helping Those In Need

Hello,
My friend My-Phuong N. brought this website, Life Impact International, to my attention. This organization focuses on helping children, women, orphans, and refugees in Asia, primarily in Thailand/Burma border at this time. The problem these groups of people are facing is quite scary.
I want to bring awareness to the problems that are happening globally. If this touches your heart, please support their cause. There are so many organizations out there that needs our support to help those in need. If monetary means is not an option at these time, there are also many volunteering opportunities available. Here are a couple of sites that I found helpful.
Volunteer in Your City – Find opportunities near you by zip code search. (www.Servenet.org)

Volunteer in California – (www.Volunteermatch.org)

Volunteer Center of Los Angeles (www.vcla.net)

Volunteer Center of Orange County (www.volunteercenter.org)

If you want to coordinate a volunteer outing, let me know!

WOW - Attic Junky

WOW! I just realized I got featured in Attic Junky! To show my appreciation to my dear friend Chris, I decided to show you some of his creations. Chris started his own clothing line in 2007 and I met him at work just when he was starting out. We actually became friends over a Johnny Cupcake shirt... That is a clothing line that started in Boston. I got hooked on cute T-Shirts while visiting my sis, Catherine (now a graduate), at MIT. I was wearing my t-shirt on a casual Friday at work and Chris knew the designer. I was shocked and amazed since no one in LA (at that time) knew Johnny Cupcake. Chris shared his site with me and after that, I'm hooked. I believe I have every single Attic Junky creation. Check out his site and when you make you purchase, make sure you add in the note section that you were referred by me. He has cool AJ stickers and I'll make sure he adds extras for you. :)

Wearing AJ when we went to Baja to build a house.

Buttons

Rachel, my wonderful friend and carpool buddy special requested a card of Rookie (her Maltese). Rookie's card did not have the bows since she is more of a tomboy. So here is my attempt of Buttons. The nose actually is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430). Card stock colors ~ Whisper White and Basic Black.

New Website

Just finished watching Game 3 of Lakers vs Magic. Sigh. I am slightly bummed that we didn't win Game 3, but it is an away game and I thought we did EXCELLENT since we fought to the last second.

I bought my domain name just seconds ago. The website will be www.GoodiesFromScratch.com. I will send out another post once it is up and running. I decided to invest on a domain name because a friend of my mom's called me lunch break today asking me information about my classes. I told her the information will be posted on my blog. And while I was spelling out my blog address for her, I realized that it was way too long. The ending of blogspot.com was spelled out with b for boy, l for larry, o for orange and g for girl. Yes, it was pretty bad. Chris, my good friend, was laughing at me throughout the day. He basically said the address is too long and inconvenient. As for Chris, he designed his own clothing line called Attic Junky. I have couple of his shirts and totally LOVE them. Please check out his site.

More updates to follow :)

UPDATED: JUNE 12, 2009

WEBSITE IS UP!!! WOO HOO!!! Please bookmark www.GoodiesFromScratch.com as your favorite or you can always set it as your homepage.

June 6, 2009 ~ Workshop

I demonstrated in the first workshop today!!! I think it went pretty well :) The class was hosted by good friend Jen. She was kind enough to feed us pita chips, hummus (4 different flavors from Trader Joe's), and CHEESECAKE! It was very yum.

I spent hours preparing for the class. The attendees were veteran stampers and I wanted to be adequate in their eyes. Cutting out all cards, pieces of embellishments, creating instructions sheets (so they can recreate the projects), packaging took hours but it was worth it. I had a really good time at the workshop. I was pretty nervous in the beginning but the girls were so cool that I got over that pretty quickly. A lot of ideas were shared in our 4 hours. Yup, 4 hours!!! There is just a lot to say about stamping :) Here are some pictures and can't wait to for next class in July! I better start planning early...

Quotes

Hi hi!
A lot of my friends tonight were questioning what to write inside our handmade cards. Well, for those of us who have little to say, I find this site very helpful http://brainyquote.com
The site has so many good quotes for you to add in your cards! While checking the site out, this quote caught my attention.

If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning.
C. S. Lewis

So wise :) I also shared another quote by C.S. Lewis with my sis. I hope that in time, her heart will be soften.

Here is another source for you http://www.greetingcardmessages.com/.

Don't forget the Stampin'Up! accessories items are first come first serve! Some of these items are up to 50% OFF! If you have not ordered your 2008-2009 In Color supplies, this month is your last chance. I just ordered another pack of the Pacific Point and Baja Breeze paper. They go well with so many things. Click here to place your order today.
